Israela Margalit

Israela Margalit is a critically acclaimed and award-winning playwright and TV writer, a
renowned concert pianist and recording artist, and most recently, a published author of short
fiction and nonfiction. Her honors include an EMMY nomination, a Gold Medal from the
New York Film and Television Festival, two NEA Media Awards, a Certificate of
Merit as Finalist at the Long Island Film Festival, a Best Production award at the New York
International Midtown Theater Festival, a Best Play Honorary Mention the New York 15-
minute Play Festival, an Ovation-recommendation LA, and a Best CD award at the British Music
Industry Award. Her son, Ilann Maazel, is a civil rights lawyer, a recorded pianist, and a
MUT International Competition first-prize winner for his musical, Believe Me. Her
daughter, Fiona Maazel, is an award-winning novelist (National Book Award 5-under 35,
Bard Fiction Award.) Her third novel, A Little More Human, will be published by
Graywolf in April.
