Bitemark

Florida Junes sweat you to the bone
Ichetucknee means big water or gift from God
heat like this I don’t know how you wear clothes
I got to sleep naked I got to
swear to God the chinaberry never quits
the cicada radio never quits in Florida Junes
crape myrtles pop their one trick
pink petals and paper buds die midair
Nature is a one trick pony if you ask me
Skylar slips off her aqua kimono
we fall back asleep and we don’t get into Ichetucknee
sprinklers rotate and heckle the holly
our bedroom bodies sketch hide patterns
like drawings of buffalo on tanned buffalo
sheets flood the sheets flood
jazz or the perfection of freeestyle
laying there sweating pools I hear two squirrels
wrestling up a chatter storm in the drywall
everything wants to fight and chase today
playing rough’s fine if you ask me but they
need to shut up I’m pretty happy Miles Davis
radio is on cause now I get to let my mind loose
down creeks of ether Skylar got a bitemark
just wait until you feel the water beaded sweat
from her neck down her collarbone
cooler than a Harlem saxophone
Skylar slides into her aqua kimono
do we have any avocadoes or no
