snowdrops
by the side
of the house.   

Petal light
chases winter
away.  Blossoms
last a couple
of weeks or so,
pack pleasure
into brevity.  Soon
crocuses will purple,
pink, and yellow
early March, blooms
we welcome, doomed
to wither.
