Julie Shavin
Julianza (Julie) Shavin is a specialist-content editor by trade, and is a former journalist and proofreader (each, full-time). She is also a visual artist and composer. A Kentucky native, she was raised in Georgia, and adopted the Rocky Mountains as home in 1993. She publishes fairly often. Most recent honors include 2nd Place and two Honorable Mentions in The Mark Fischer Prize contest. In 2011 she was named Pikes Peak Art Performance Poet of the Year; in 2012, PP Page Poet. She has received three Pikes Peak Arts Council grants. A classical pianist, she also plays alto recorder and cello. She is an animals rights advocate and activist who volunteers with many organizations. She is past Vice-President of Blissfest333, an annual collaboration of artists who perform to raise money for charitable causes. She is also past President of Poetry West (www.poetrywest.org), and has served as VP/Workshop Coordinator for three years.
