Lance Mason
Raised in rural California, Lance Mason earned his degrees from Loyola U. (BSc) and UCLA (Doctorate), and has held teaching posts at UCLA, Otago U. (New Zealand), and the Nat. Uni. of Brazil (Natal). His writing has appeared in 30+ literary journals and anthologies/collections, with two dozen awards and honors (see below). His most lauded CNF work, “The Train to Harare,” is a study of the challenges of independence in post-colonial Africa. Mason’s essay collection, A Proficiency in Billiards, appeared in 2016. He is currently pursuing publication of his crime novels (Palanquin, a Tale of India and Beyond—historical—and Loan Star). Rugby, cycle racing, theater, wine, fishing, and forty years living and working overseas have both interfered with and informed Mason’s writing life.
