Michael Boyd

Michael Boyd grew up in Southern Africa—between Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa—but moved to the UK as a schoolboy. He has always had an interest in literature, being an avid reader and film enthusiast, and worked for some time at the Sundance, Telluride, Film Africa, and Cambridge Film Festivals. As well as that, he was the director and curator of the longest-running African film festival in the UK, the Cambridge African Film Festival. He finally decided on a career in teaching, which would bring together his interests, as well as fulfill his longing to return to Africa. Having taught around South Africa and Kenya, he now lives in Johannesburg, where he has recently completed an MA in Creative Writing at the University of the Witwatersrand.
